Fragrance-based characters for perfume labels
This is a serie of illustrations I made some mounths ago for Ruth Mastenbroek's perfume company, located in England.
They were looking for three character illustrations for three new perfumes.
Each perfume was designed to conjure an emotion that is connected to the perfumery ingredient:
▪ Lavender: relaxed, laid-back, chilled
▪ Chamomile: soothing, zen, calm
▪ Peppermint: energising, uplifting.
Each character had to be based on the main ingredient and emotion of the fragrance, with a fantasy/magical interpretation.
Each character had to be androgynous, because the perfumes are unisex.
The illustrations also had to convey the sophisticated and elegant nature of the brand.
Illustration Requirements:
▪ Each character had to be based on the plant/flower main ingredient of the perfum.
▪ The illustration had to combine the real natural ingredient with a fantasy/magical/imaginative element.
Lavender Fragrance
Fragrance and Character personality:
▪ Relaxed, laid-back, chilled
▪ Feels like: A gentle walk through a forest, switching off and recharging
Chamomille Fragrance
Fragrance and Character personality:
▪ Gentle, soothing, calming. Bright and sunny
▪ Laid back and chilled personality
▪ Feels like: sipping a cup of chamomile tea and chilling out as the sun shines
Peppermint Fragrance
Fragrance and Character personality:
▪ Energetic, lively, vibrant
▪ Lightly refreshing and lots of fun
▪ Feels like: dancing outside in a field
